The food you eat daily can make or break your health and well-being. Some foods, however, are more important to eat than others—and you should never skip these foods if you want to stay in peak condition. Here are 5 daily foods you should never skip on your way to better health and well-being.
1) Breakfast
A healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets you up for a productive morning and ensures that your body has all the nutrients it needs to go through your day. I typically start my morning with a green smoothie that contains spinach, kale, banana, almond milk and some type of protein powder. This gives me tons of energy and also helps me meet my daily recommended protein intake. I also like to have oatmeal with some fruits mixed in or whole-wheat toast with peanut butter as another way to get my day off to a good start. After I’ve eaten breakfast, I’m able to concentrate better in school or at work because I’m not hungry or feeling sluggish from lack of food.
2) Lunch
For lunch today, I am going to make a sandwich! In order to start my process, I need bread. I went to the fridge and pulled out some bread. I grabbed two pieces of bread and put them on the counter. Next, I opened the tomato sauce and took it over to the counter with me. Then, for toppings, I got some pepperoni and mozzarella cheese from the fridge. To make sure my sandwich was fully complete, I also grabbed a lettuce leaf from our refrigerator’s vegetable crisper drawer in order to place it on top of my sandwich once it was made.
3) Dinner
We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what about dinner? While it may not be as crucial as breakfast, dinner is still an important time to refuel and recharge before your day starts anew. If you’re feeling tired and run down, it’s likely because you didn’t get enough nutrients at dinner. Here are five foods that you should never skip!
1. Lean protein – Protein helps keep you satisfied longer so you’re less likely to snack on something unhealthy or choose a high-fat dish for a midnight snack.
2. Vegetables – You’ve heard this one before, but trust us on this one too! Vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals that help keep your immune system strong.
4) Snacks
1. Strawberries – An antioxidant-rich food, strawberries are one of the most important fruits to consume on a daily basis. Not only do they provide anti-inflammatory benefits and improve heart health, they also help fight back against DNA damage and oxidative stress that lead to diabetes and cancer. Plus, they’re perfect for snacks or in smoothies or other recipes!
2. Black beans – Like strawberries, black beans are an important food to eat every day because of their high levels of folate, which is critical for optimal cognitive functioning and the prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease.
5) Dessert
In order to make sure you’re eating a balanced diet, you should try to include some dessert in your daily diet. The key is to make it a small part of your meal so that you don’t eat too much and end up gaining weight. It can also be helpful to include healthy desserts in your diet as well if you have cravings for something sweet. Some good choices are fresh fruit, greek yogurt with honey and granola, low-fat frozen yogurt or sorbet.
Conclusion
If you want to be healthy and live a long, happy life, you need to eat well. Consuming these five foods every day will help you feel full, energized and satisfied.
